Mystery Bullet Hits Car Passenger on Route 100

Police believe the bullet came from out of the woods.

Police in Anne Arundel County are investigating what appears to be a shooting from out of the woods and into a car.

The victim told police he was riding in the front passenger seat of a car riding along Route 100 near I-97 when he was shot around 1:45 a.m. One round came through his door, he said, but apparently no other cars were around. According to the Western District police report, the shot may have came from the wooded area near exit #13.

Police responded to the scene around 3 a.m. after the victim showed up at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick with a gunshot wound.

He was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Two other people in the car at the time of the shooting, including the driver, were not hurt. The man hit by the mystery bullet has not been identified.
