Car Crashes Into Clifton, Va. Store

A car crashed into a Clifton, Va. general store Wednesday evening, causing damage to the foundation of the building.

According to police, the incident was reported around 7:30 p.m. at the Clifton General Store, 7140 Main Street.

"We felt this really hard smack," employee Kristopher Burger told News4. "It started shaking everything for about a second. [We] went outside and found that the van had hit the side of our building."

The store stands near train tracks, and Farifax County Fire officials told News4 they're worried a passing train's vibrations could shake the building's foundation and possibly cause the roof to collapse. The 1930s-era building houses a general store, restaurant and flower shop.

No one was injured and only the hood of the car got inside the store. Officials have not released what the cause of the accident was.
