6 Injured After Car Crash in Southeast DC

A car crash in Southeast Washington has left six people injured, including two children, D.C. Fire and EMS said Sunday afternoon.

First responders reported the two-vehicle crash with a rolled over car at 16th and V streets in Anacostia at about 3:30 p.m.

One of the victims who is very critically injured was a pedestrian who was on the sidewalk at the time of the crash, D.C. Fire said, and another male victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Two juveniles, one adult man and one woman sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

After the crash, neighbors apparently rushed to the scene to flip over the car that had turned over.

"Everybody was helping them. This community came together today," a neighbor said.

Another neighbor said the intersection needs more safety precautions like speed bumps or a four-way stop.

"I think they need to do more than just the stop sign," she said. "Because they are not adhering to the stop sign...This is not the only accident to happen up here."
