Canoe Capsizes on Potomac River, Killing Man Without Life Jacket

A canoe capsized in the Potomac River on Saturday, killing a man who police say was not wearing a life jacket.

William Hayes, of Indian Head, died after the accident early Saturday near Mallows Bay in southern Maryland, Natural Resources Police said in a series of tweets.

Hayes was pronounced dead at Civista Medical Center in La Plata. He was 50.
