Better Economy Means More Holiday Travel

Experts predict busiest year in a decade

This could be one of the busiest holiday travel seasons we've seen in a long time, and experts say it's because the economy is getting better.

More than 2 million people in the Washington area are expected to get in a car or on a plane this year, according to AAA. More than 40 percent of people will travel 50 miles or more.

Those numbers are higher than the national average because many people in the Washington area didn't grow up here.

The reason for the increase in travel can be attributed to more vacation time and more disposable income, according to AAA.
