University of Maryland police are looking for two men after a student's laptop was nearly stolen from an on-campus residents hall.

Officials say that a student was sleeping in her room on the 7th floor of Cumberland Hall early Sunday morning when she woke up to find a man touching her thigh. Her roommate then confronted the man, who claimed he had entered the room by mistake and then left. The woman who had been touched noticed that her laptop had been moved and packed up in an apparent attempt to steal it.

Police interviewed other residents of the 7th floor who said that they had heard the sound of someone trying their doorknobs earlier in the evening. One resident told police that she had seen two males who didn't appear to belong in the building.

Police described one of the suspects as an African-American male standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a gray baseball hat. The other suspect could only be described as an African-American male.
