Budget Committee Pushes Back Film Company Debate

Heated budgetary debates continue between filmmakers and Congress as talks of budgetary compromises drag on.

Monday's debates came to a close with few concessions made on either side.

High-budget film projects, including Netflix's highly popular series "House of Cards," have already threatened to stop filming in Maryland if certain provisions aren't met.

Maryland responded with threats to seize property if they do.

However, despite steady disagreements on both sides, the committee was able to compromise to keep the grants offered by the Maryland Tourism Development Board as well as funds for the child care subsidy program.

The group also agreed to eliminate vacant public safety positions and cut foster care payments.

These decisions are some of the more minor the group has to discuss. The heavier discussions were intentionally delayed until a later meeting.

The committee will reconvene Tuesday afternoon.
