Buckle Up: Virginia Effort Aims to Increase Seat Belt Use

Buckle up, Virginia.

That's the message schools across the state hope to get across with a campaign this year aimed at getting more kids and teens to wear their seat belts.

More than 70 high school and middle schools across the state are participating in the four-week challenge. Students will come up with an event designed to encourage their peers to wear their seat belt.

Schools will also hold educational events at football games and organize traffic safety rallies and other events.

The campaign is sponsored by Youth of Virginia Speak Out About Traffic Safety, the Virginia State Police and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Highway Safety Office.
