Brother of Ravens' Smith Killed in Crash

Crash occurred Sunday morning in Westmoreland County

Tevin Jones, the younger brother of Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith, was killed in a motorcycle accident early late Saturday morning in Westmoreland County.

Virginia State Police say the accident occurred shortly before midnight on Route 672/Chatham Lane, just west of Route 645/ Zacata Road in Montross. Investigators say that Jones' Yamaha motorcycle ran off the road and struck a utility pole. Jones, 19, was wearing his helmet at the time. The crash remains under investigation, and authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor.

Smith left the Ravens hotel at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday, accompanied by a member of the Ravens' security detail. At 8:36 a.m. Sunday, Smith posted the message below to his Twitter account.

"I can't believe my little brother is gone...be thankful for your loved ones and tell them you love them...this is the hardest thing ever".

The 23-year-old Smith, who is the oldest of seven children and played college football at the University of Maryland, was born in Colonial Beach, Va. and attended Stafford Senior High School in Falmouth. He is in his second season with the Ravens.

It is not known if Smith will play in Baltimore's scheduled Sunday night game against the New England Patriots.
