Bowie Man Gets 41 Years for Child Molestation

A 53-year-old Bowie, Md. man will spend more than 40 years in prison for molesting a young boy.

Michael Brochu was sentenced to 21 years on child abuse charges and 20 years on second degree sex offense charges. Back in 1982, Brochu was convicted on similar charges.

“This sentence has removed a dangerous pedophile from our community and I hope that it will help bring closure to the victim and his family and to everyone living in Mr. Brochu’s neighborhood who has been negatively impacted by his horrible crimes," the judge said.

Brochu sexually abused a young child in 2011 and 2012 at his home and a community pool in the Bowie area. The victim testified during the trial, and his mother said Brochu was a trusted adult in the child's life -- he was friends with Brochu's grandson.

Brochu could face even more time in prison -- he has two more cases on similar charges with different victims scheduled to go to court in October and November.
