Bowie Man Serving 81 Years Convicted of Another Child Molestation

This is the man's third conviction for abusing young boys in the Bowie area

A Bowie man who was already serving 81 years in prison for molesting two young boys was convicted for abusing a third boy Wednesday.

Michael Brochu was convicted of three counts of third-degree sex offenses involving the abuse of a minor at a community pool in Bowie, Maryland, in 2011.

"Mr. Brochu is a convicted child abuser who has proven that he is a dangerous sexual predator,” Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said. “In addition to the more than 80 years he has already been sentenced to for his previous convictions, I am confident that this latest conviction will ensure that he is never able to abuse a child ever again."

This is Brochu's third conviction for molesting young boys. He was originally sentenced to 41 years in 2013 for sexually abusing a minor at his home and a community pool and was convicted a second time later in the year and sentenced to an additional 40 years for abusing a boy in his neighborhood.

He was also convicted for similar offenses in 1982.

Police say Brochu abused his third victim in the showers of the Whitehall Community Pool in Bowie from June through August 2011. That victim came forward after seeing Brochu's photo in the Bowie Blade newspaper.

Brochu is facing a maximum of an additional 30 years for the latest conviction. Sentencing is set for Sept. 9.
