Bond Denied for Husband in Hitman-for-Hire Case

Safety fears prompt ruling

A District Court judge in Montgomery County has denied bond for a Rockville man accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill his wife.

Richard Boyd, Jr., 42, is charged with one count of solicitation of murder and one count of distribution of a controlled substance.

Boyd was arrested Friday after meeting with a man who tipped off police. Police say he offered an informant $1,000 and five Oxycontin pills to kill his wife.

The couple is in the middle of a divorce. Police say Boyd feared his wife would gain custody of their children and would move from the area.
