Bomb Squad Checks Suspicious Item at Reagan National

Authorities at Reagan National Airport outside of Washington called a bomb squad to investigate a suspicious item found on an employee shuttle bus in an employee parking lot at the airport.

The suspicious item was reported about 2:30 p.m. Friday, airport spokeswoman Kimberly Gibbs said. The Arlington County police bomb squad was called as a precaution.

The investigation is not affecting airport operations, Gibbs said.

There is no indication the item is harmful, but authorities have not determined what it is, Gibbs said.

The unattended item was left on the shuttle bus and was discovered in a remote area of the employee parking lot.
