Surveyors discovered a badly decomposed body in Woodbrige, Va, according to Prince William County police.
They notified authorities at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after coming across human remains.
The body was found in a wooded area near Dale Boulevard and Benita Fitzgerald Drive.
Prince William County police are now trying to figure out the age, race and gender of the person, along with the cause of death.
