A 14-year-old girl has been identified as the victim found dead in the stairwell of a Silver Spring apartment building.

Police investigate the death of a runaway 14-year-old girl in Silver Spring.

Davonn Denise Dupree, of Springfield, Va., was identified after police released photos of her T-shirt and jewelry. Police said the teen had recently run away from home.

Dupree's body was found at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in an apartment building in the 13900 block of Castle Boulevard.

Police said she died as a result of multiple injuries. The circumstances of Dupree's death are still under investigation, but police are ruling it a homicide.

Police said they would like to speak with the male caller who called 911 to report finding Dupree. They would also like to speak with two occupants of a red Lexus that was reportedly seen in the area at the time of the 911 call.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call police at 240-773-5070. Callers may remain anonymous.
