Body Found in Rock Creek Park

Park Police investigate

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Park Police are investigating a body found in Rock Creek Park.

Police arrived at the scene between Beach Drive and Massachusetts Avenue before noon Friday. after a jogger called it in, according to DCist. The body reportedly was face down in a creek and dressed in jogging clothes.

Police said the body is not a child and is recently deceased. Police told The Washington Post that they believe the body is a man.

U.S. Park Police Lt. Michael Libby said Beach Drive remained open to cars but the jogging path was closed in the area while Park Police and D.C. homicide detectives investigated.

The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
