Body Found in Burning Car on I-95 Ramp

A body was found Tuesday morning inside a burning car in Laurel, Md.

A passing motorist called 911 after seeing flames coming out of a car on the ramp from westbound Route 198 to Interstate 95 South.

The car, a 2006 Jaguar, had left the roadway and appeared to have crashed near a wooded area. When the fire was put out, police discovered a body in the vehicle.

It is unclear if the person died in the fire or if the person was killed before the flames broke out. Because investigators don't know what happened, they cordoned off the ramp and treated it as a crime scene.

The unidentified victim's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

The ramp from westbound 198 to 95 South was closed until about noon.
