Body Found in Fairfax County Park; Police Call It a Homicide

A body was found in a Fairfax County park Wednesday morning, and police are now investigating the death as a homicide.

People walking in the park found the body after 7 a.m.

Fairfax County Police said a man suffered trauma to his body in Huntington Park in the Alexandria section of the county. He was identified as 42-year-old Khalid Aboumalik.

Police are continuing to investigate, including searching the park and canvassing the neighborhood to see if anyone had heard or seen anything.

Police are not saying how they think he died. Neighbors and a police commander say there have been some incidents of drinking and drug use in the park.

"Outsiders from neighborhoods bring in the crime and the drugs," a neighbor told News4.
