Woman Dies in Georgetown FIre

A body has been found on the first floor of a house that caught fire in the 3000 block of O Street NW in Georgetown.

Firefighters battled the blaze Friday afternoon on the first floor of the home and found the body of a female senior citizen. The woman, believed to be the owner of the home, died of injuries suffered in the fire, officials said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Investigators said there were smoke detectors in the house, but it is unknown if they were working.
