Body Cam Video Shows DC Cops Stop Robbery Attack

The suspect was holding a knife over a woman, police say

Body camera footage released by D.C. police on Friday shows officers intercepting a man with a knife who they say was trying to rob a woman.

About 9:43 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a call about a robbery in the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Southeast, police said.

When officers pulled up they heard a woman crying for help and saw the suspect standing over her with a knife in an alleyway.

News4's Jackie Bensen reports their actions foiled the robbery and possibly saved the woman's life.

The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Christopher Alexander Galloway, was arrested at the scene and was charged with assault with intent to commit robbery, police said.

This is one of the first times body cam video has been released from D.C. police since it started using the cameras this year.
