Blair Underwood Opens DC AIDS Clinic

Underwood is longtime AIDS activist

Actor Blair Underwood cut the ribbon Thursday on an HIV/AIDS clinic bearing his name.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation opened the AHF Blair Underwood Clinic on K Street in northwest Washington Thursday morning. The clinic is near George Washington University Hospital, where clinic officials plan to admit some patients who need to be hospitalized.

The organization has also relocated a mobile testing unit from Los Angeles to provide free HIV testing in underserved neighborhoods in Washington.

Underwood, a longtime AIDS activist, has previously been featured in AHF media campaigns. In a statement, the actor said he's honored to have the new clinic share his name and hopes it will help improve access to lifesaving care for D.C. residents with HIV and AIDS.
