A man is recovering after being shot by police in Bladensburg, Md.
Officers were called to the 3500 block of 55th Avenue about 7 p.m. Sunday to talk to a woman who reported being threatened, police said. She said her ex-boyfriend kicked in her door, assaulted her and fled.
Shortly after police got to the scene, an officer said a man with a knife approached him outside. After repeated commands to drop the weapon were ignored, an officer shot the man, who police said suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Damon Earl Wilson, 24, of Hyattsville, was charged in a warrant with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and several other charges.
He is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.
