Beware of Counterfeit Super Bowl Gear

Whether you're a Ravens Fan or a 49ers fan, chances are, you'll be wearing your team colors this weekend. But don't be tempted to buy counterfeit Super Bowl gear, which will be popping up all over the Internet in the next few days.

News4 consumer reporter Liz Crenshaw reports that the Better Business Bureau is warning against grabbing a jersey at a cheap price. You could be sacrificing a lot more than quality: Counterfeit items are often more cheaply made, so they won't last as long.

The BBB also warns sometimes these websites just want your credit card information. You could end up with no merchandise at all - and an identity theft situation on your hands.

So if you're buying online, be careful what you search for. One red flag: the word "cheap" or "discount" in front of the company name.

To get official sports gear, the BBB says buy directly from the team or on theNFL website

.

And if you are looking to score a last-minute deal on Super Bowl tickets?

The BBB says to choose reliable and verifiable ticket sellers. Sites likeTicketmaster

andStubHub
