A senior at Georgetown Prep in Bethesda, Md., is trying to ease the pain at the pump with what he calls a "One Gallon Challenge."
Rami Bedewi, 17, initially created a car just to get more than 30 miles per gallon. He’s ended up with a vehicle that will be quite impressive. Bedewi says he hopes to get approximately 240 miles on just one gallon of gas.
Bedewi is putting his theory to the test today. He's driving his three-wheeled series hybrid electric vehicle from New York to Washington, D.C., using a combination of gas and a battery-powered electric motor.
Rami said he plans to take mostly back roads and travel at low speeds to successfully complete his challenge.
