Beltway's Outer Loop Reopens After Crash

The Outer Loop of the Beltway (I-495 southbound) at the American Legion Bridge has reopened after a crash involving at least two vehicles.

Traffic was backed up at least three miles to River Road.  The crew of Chopper4 said traffic on I-270 South was “as far as the eye could see.”

Maryland State Police officers was diverting cars off of the Beltway to the Clara Barton Parkway.

Inner loop traffic going toward Montgomery County is moving but is slow.

At least two trucks were involved in the crash. There was no immediate word on a cause of the crash or on the severity of any injuries.
