Metro Closes Early, Bars Stay Open for Daylight Savings Saturday Night

It’s almost time to move those clocks ahead as daylight savings time begins this Sunday at 2 a.m.

Planning a night out in the District Saturday?  You may be in luck this year, as the time change might not shorten your visit to your favorite nightclub or bar.

The Washington Post’s Tim Craig reported that the D.C. Council approved emergency legislation last month that allows bars and nightclubs to remain open until 4 a.m. this Sunday.

District bars normally must stop serving by 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

But here's the bad news: MEtro is not staying up late.  The agency plans to follow its normal Saturday procedure of closing at 3 a.m.

That means at 2 a.m. on Sunday when the clocks move forward.

Metro is advising customers that the last trains of the evening will pass through stations an hour earlier than usual.
