A man with a knife was shot and killed by a Baltimore County police officer after he refused to drop the knife.
Police said James Robert Rogers, Jr., 49, of Cockeysville, Md., died early Sunday morning. Rogers was allegedly threatening his parents with a knife Saturday night and had retreated to a garage when an officer arrived.
The officer directed Rogers to drop the knife. When he refused, the officer opened fire, striking Roberts at least once. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.
The investigation in the circumstances of the shooting is continuing. The officer has been placed on administrative duty during the review in accordance with department procedures.
