Bakery Products from Weis Market Recalled

Weis Market is voluntarily recalling about 30 bakery products because of the potential for small pieces of metal in the sugar topping.

The grocery store chain said their supplier of sugar ingredient alerted them to the issue. The sugar is used in muffins, cookies, shortbread and baked bread in the Weis bakeries.

The pieces of metal are small, less than 9mm, and there have been no reports of adverse reactions or injuries due to the consumption of these products o day.

The muffins are packaged in a plastic medium salad container. The loaf bread and cookies are packaged in a plastic hinged container, and the Irish soda bread is packaged in a plastic bag.

The sell by date can be found at the bottom of the scale label affixed to the packaging. Products included in this recall were distributed in Weis Marketsโ€™ stores.

Specific product names and information can be found on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration page on the recall.

Consumers who have purchased these items are advised not to consume them and return them to the store where originally purchased. Weis Markets is cooperating with the FDA on this recall and is working to ensure the packages are removed from store shelves and are no longer distributed.
