10 Brands of Baby Wipes Recalled Due to Possible Bacteria Contamination

Ten brands of baby wipes are being recalled nationwide because they may be contaminated with bacteria.

Nutek Disposables, Inc. of Pennsylvania is recalling all lots of the following brands: Cuties, Diapers.com, Femtex, Fred's, Kidgets, Member's Mark, Simply Right, Sunny Smiles, Tender Touch and Well Beginnings.

The wipes were sold at online retailers, including Amazon.com and Diapers.com, and at retail stores, including Walgreens, Sam's Club, Family Dollar and Fred's stores.

Nutek Disposables tested some of the wipes after receiving consumer complaints of a bad odor and discoloration.

Some of the wipes tested positive for a type of bacteria (burkholderia cepacia) that usually poses no health risk to the healthy but could be dangerous to those with weakened immune systems. The cause of the contamination is under investigation.

Consumers can return the wipes to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.

Consumers with questions can contact Nutek Disposables, Inc. at 855-646-4351, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Adverse events or side effects related to the use of these wipes should be reported to the FDA's MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program.
