Authorities Looking for Couple After Death of Granddaughter

2-year-old Destiny Riddick ingested pills kept in a candy dish

Authorities are seeking a former Suffolk couple on charges related to the death of their 2-year-old granddaughter, who ingested a fatal amount of pills that were kept in a candy dish.

Suffolk spokeswoman Debbie George tells WAVY-TV that a Suffolk grand jury issued indictments against Destiny Riddick's grandparents, 39-year-old Kimberly Artis and 51-year-old Steven Bullock.

Destiny was found unresponsive last July 17 at the Suffolk home where the couple lived. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Further investigation found that the child ingested suboxone that was kept in a candy dish. Suboxone is a medication that treats addiction to heroin and similar drugs.

George says Artis and Bullock each face felony murder, felony child abuse or neglect, and drug-possession charges. Their last known address was in Portsmouth.
