Auschwitz Survivors Visit U.S. Holocaust Museum to Mark 70 Years Since Camp's Liberation

Survivors of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp are visiting the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum for a ceremony Tuesday to mark 70 years since the camp's liberation.

The Soviet army liberated Auschwitz, the Nazi's largest concentration camp, Jan. 27, 1945.

The Holocaust museum in downtown Washington is holding a ceremony featuring testimony from a Holocaust survivor, a musical performance, and the lighting of a memorial candle in the museum's Hall of Remembrance.

The event, which is open to the public, began at 11 a.m.

Ambassadors and other diplomats from multiple nations were expected to attend.
