An assault charge against a former Prince George's County Council member has been dropped.

County Clerk of the Court Marilynn Bland was accused of assault by the executive director of the county council's youth commission in November, when Bland was still a member of the council. W. Randy Short said Bland grabbed him by the collar and was yelling at him for starting the Nov. 17 meeting before she arrived.

A surveillance video did not prove that a confrontation took place, prosecutors said, so an assault charge against Bland has been dropped, NBC Washington's John Schriffen reported.

No charges are expected to be filed against Short, as there is no proof he did anything wrong other than being unable to prove his allegation.
