Arrests Made in Three D.C. Murders

Police make arrests in two shootings, stabbing

D.C. Police announced Tuesday that they have made arrests in three separate murders, two of which took place months ago.

Police arrested 25-year-old Andrew Wesley Williams of Northeast Tuesday morning and charged him with Murder One while armed in the death of 30-year-old Junon Snead, also of Northeast. Snead was shot in the early morning hours of May 14 in the 3700 block of Jay Street, Northeast. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Less than 30 minutes after Williams was arrested, police arrested 19-year-old Harold Proctor of Upper Marlboro in the December 17 murder of 20-year-old Kevin Blackwell, Jr.

Blackwell was stabbed to death in the 900 block of Burns Street, Southeast and pronounced dead at a local hospital.Proctor was charged with Felony Murder in the case.

Early Tuesday afternoon, police made a third arrest. 23-year-old Anthony Speight was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 33-year-old William Mitchell of Northwest. Mitcyhell was shot late on the night of January 19 at the intersection of North Capitol Street and Florida Avenue and was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
