Arrest in Up-and-Coming Rapper's Death

Frank Diggy apparently killed in drug deal turned to robbery

Police arrested a suspect in the death of an up-and-coming rapper in Silver Spring, Md., last year.

Franklin Amobi, aka Frank Diggy, was killed outside his apartment Dec. 27, the last homicide victim in Montgomery County in 2011. According to court documents, Amobi, 24, was selling crack cocaine to 29-year-old Dennis Mackabee when he was killed in a robbery.

Investigators got their break when an informant in Virginia told police he knew details about Amobi’s death. That led detectives to an eyewitness, who identified the gunman and identified Mackabee as an accomplice.

Mackabee is facing charges in connection with Amobi’s death.
