Arrest in Dog-Walker Assault Case

Attack sparked community effort to find missing mutt

Police have made an arrest in a sex assault that brought a neighborhood together to help the victim.

Police said a woman walking three dogs was assaulted earlier this month on L Street NE. One of the dogs, Murray, ran away before the assault after the suspect allegedly yelled that he had been bitten.

The community rallied together to search for the dog. Eventually someone recognized his picture on a flyer, and Murray was returned home last week.

D.C. police confirmed Friday the man they believe to be involved in the attack was arrested and is facing third-degree sex abuse charges.
