Arrest Made in Northwest D.C. Homicide

Police have made an arrest in the July 26 homicide of a Northwest D.C. man, found inside of his apartment suffering from gunshot wounds and burns.

Crews responded to the 1000 block of Euclid Street NW just after 6 a.m. that morning for a call referencing smoke in the building. Inside of one of the apartments, they found the body of 31-year-old Randolph Scott Harris, Jr.

He was suffering from apparent burns and gunshot wounds, and pronounced dead at a local hospital. The cause and manner of his death remain under investigation -- police said his apartment may have been set on fire in an attempt to hide his body.

Thursday, police charged 34-year-old Jermaine Brown of Northwest with first degree murder while armed.

In the initial report, police said Harris' 2006 Mercedes SUV was missing after the fire -- police did not say whether the vehicle was retrieved.
