Arrest Made in Northwest Assault on Performer

Police said an arrest has been made in the June 23 assault of a man dressed as a woman in Northwest.

According to officials, the man was attacked by two women while inside of an establishment in the 1800 block of 14th Street NW.

Tuesday, 28-year-old Raymone Harding of Gaithersburg, Md. was arrested and charged with simple assault.The case remains under investigation.

The Washington Post reported the District has been the site of several recent attacks on transgendered people, including a violent stabbing June 21 at an abandoned building in Southeast. Police are investigating a June 27 shooting and robbery in Northeast as a possible hate crime, the Post said.
