A Northeast D.C. man was arrested Thursday in the fatal stabbing of a woman outside a Georgia Avenue strip club last week.
Michael Anthony Coleman, 36, is charged with second-degree murder while armed in the death of Candance Reed, 40.
Reed was found unconscious in the 5300 block of Georgia Avenue NW, near the Macombo Lounge, just after 2 a.m. last Friday.
She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
A friend of Reed told News4's Megan McGrath there was an argument with a man in the bar, which ultimately led to the stabbing of Reed and another man, who survived.
The friend said Reed once worked as a dancer at the club, but was there Thursday night for a birthday party.
After crimes of this nature occur at D.C. bars or clubs, they're usually ordered closed for 96 hours. Police have not confirmed any connection between the stabbing and the Macombo Lounge, which is why it will remain open.

"The investigation does not suggest it happened in the club and that the club management is cooperating with the police," D.C. council member Muriel Bowser said.
Some residents in the area say the bar has been an ongoing problem, adding that they would like to see its liquor license denied when it comes up for renewal.
"It's just the element that comes; they're disrespectful to the neighborhood -- the litter, the cussing," neighbor Charles Foreman said.
"It can get pretty bad especially after the club closes, like 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning, fighting in the streets," neighbor Ken Johnson said. "I've had to call the cops on numerous occasions."
There are a number of surveillance cameras located outside the club, pointed in the direction of the scene of the stabbing.
Meanwhile, Reed's close friends are mourning her loss.
"She was more like family. She didn't harm anybody," a friend told News4.
