Arrest Made in Assault of Teen at Falls Church Library

Suspect grabbed girl in ladies' room at the Thomas Jefferson Library, authorities say

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the Nov. 7 assault of a teenage girl at a Falls Church Library, authorities announced Thursday.

Kevin Lee Porter, of no fixed address, was charged with abduction Tuesday.

The 17-year-old victim told authorities that she noticed a man watching her as she studied at Thomas Jefferson Library on Nov. 7. She felt intimidated as she was leaving and ducked into a restroom.

"Within seconds, he followed her," said Lucy Caldwell of the Fairfax County Police Department. "She yelled at him to get out" and then he grabbed her, Caldwell said.

The girl kicked him and screamed for help, and he fled the scene. She was shaken up, but wasn't physically harmed, police said.

Library workers told police they had seen the suspect before, but weren't aware of any previous incidents or violent behavior.

Porter, 31, is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
