Pr. George's Police Make Arrest After Foiled Carjacking

19-year-old arrested after seeking treatment for gunshot wound

Prince George's County Police have arrested a man in connection with a failed carjacking attempt that took place earlier this week in Clinton.

Investigators say that 19-year-old Demetrice Littles, of Northeast Washington, was arrested Saturday after he sought treatment at a local hospital for a gunshot wound. He is charged with first-degree assault, kidnapping, abduction, and auto theft.

Investigators say that Littles tried to break into a car belonging to a D.C. Police officer and his wife at around 8 a.m. Friday while the couple's 9-year-old daughter was in the car. After the daughter managed to get out of the car, police say Littles drove across the grass toward the officer, who opened fire with his duty weapon.

Police then allege that the officer chased Littles into some nearby woods and fired several more shots. Witnesses later saw the suspect driving away in a champagne-colored Toyota Camry.

The officer and his family were not injured.
