An Arlington County, Va., school bus struck a pedestrian Monday morning.

Louise Gabel, 89, of Falls Church, was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition. She died Monday night, police said.

The bus was on its regular route and stayed at the scene at the intersection of Eighth Street and Carlin Springs Road.

Twelve students were on the bus at the time. None was hurt.

Police said they do not believe any of the children saw the accident happen.

The incident is under investigation.
