Arlington Man Killed by Deer in Car Accident

Crash happened Saturday evening

A flying deer crashed through the front window of a Nissan SUV on Saturday, killing a front seat passenger.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said the crash, around 7:30 in the evening, involved two vehicles.

One driver, Richard Swingle, 42, of New York, was coming eastbound on Route 9 near route 704.

Police said Swingle struck a deer on the roadway with his 2004 Toyota Prius.  Accident investigators said the force of the impact sent the deer airborne and across into the opposite lane of traffic.

The deer crashed through the front window of a 2000 Nissan Xterra, coming westbound on Route 9.

Rodolfo Diamantio Ruiz Villatoro, 26, a front-seat passenger in the Nissan, sustained fatal injuries in the accident.

Another passenger in the Nissan was also hurt in the crash, suffering non-life threatening injuries.
