Hailing a cab with your smartphone may sound convenient, but the D.C. Taxicab Commission says in order to make sure riders are safe and the fare is fair, it's making app providers meet standards.

Hailing a cab with your smartphone may sound convenient, but the D.C. Taxicab Commission says in order to make sure riders are safe and the fare is fair, it's making app providers meet standards.

With the touch of an app on your smartphone, a taxicab comes to you without you ever leaving your seat.

But not all Apps for hailing D.C. cabs have the D.C. Taxicab Commission's (DCTC) seal of approval.

Here is a list of the DCTC's approved Apps or Digital Dispatch Systems (DDS).
