Another Armed Robbery in College Park Friday

Third armed robbery in less than a week

Police in College Park are investigating an armed robbery that took place Friday night, approximately 24 hours after a University of Maryland student was robbed well within the school perimeter.

Investigators say the most recent robbery took place on Lakeland Road, east of Rhode Island Avenue near the university's campus, at approximately 11:20 p.m. Authorities say that two suspects passed by three victims on the street before turning around and approaching them from behind while brandishing handguns. Police say that two of the victims had "personal property" taken from them. The third victim was not robbed.

It is not known if the victims were University of Maryland students. On Thursday night, a female student was robbed at gunpoint in parking lot KK, well inside the University's campus. On Tuesday, a similar robbery occurred near the train tracks that cross Paint Branch Parkway just off campus.

Police say one of the suspects was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and brandishing a silver handgun, while the other was wearing a green coat and brandishing a brown handgun. The men were last seen running east on Lakeland toward the train tracks.
