Region to Sizzle Through Another Heatwave

Get your sunscreen and water bottles ready -- it's going to be another week of high heat and humidity.

Monday marks the beginning of another three-day heatwave, with temperatures expected to reach the 90s across the region, with humidity increasing by nightfall, said Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Tom Kierein.

The sky will stay dry for Monday night's Battle of the Beltway, as the Baltimore Orioles visit Nationals Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and the heat will still be around, with an expected temperature of 88 degrees. By the end of the game, it should be down to 82.

Most of the week will be just as warm, around the mid-90-degree range, and despite possibilities for rain and storms Tuesday and Wednesday, it won't cool down too much until the weekend, said Kierein.

The heatwave shouldn't prevent outdoor activities, but beware of the signs of heat exhaustion, and be extra careful about the safety of children, older people, and pets. It will also be important to protect yourself from the sun, because the UV index is very high this week.

Enjoy the cooler and less humid weather this weekend, because we will be back in that above-average temperature range next week. If you're not used to this weather yet, you will be soon, because we'll see these an average temperature of 89 degrees on and off through July 22.
