Another Dog Escapes Virginia Pet Day Care

Dog died after escaping Just Fur Pets in December 2010

A Springfield, Va., family is calling attention to a doggie day care and grooming business after their dog became the second animal to escape it the past 18 months.

For hours Sunday, Buster the schipperke ran loose back and forth across busy Old Keene Mill and Rolling roads. About 90 minutes after his owners dropped him off at Just Fur Pets, they got a call that Buster escaped through a back door when an employee stepped outside.

“I think I cried for two hours straight, honestly,” Korie DeSio said. “I was just terrified of the worst.”

She and her husband gathered family and friends to help Just Fur Pets search.  After several hours, DeSio saw Buster cowering in bushes near a 7-Eleven.

When she got home, she went online and learned about Sissy, a dog that escaped from the same facility in December 2010 and later was found dead on the side of the road.

Addante said she is making a change in the gating system in response to Buster's escape.

"It's a business that deals with a lot of dogs, and sometimes things happen," owner Mirella Addante said. "We take the best care of these dogs. We really do a superb job."

DeSio called the care negligent and said she’ll be more careful next time she picks a grooming business for Buster.
