Anne Arundel Police to Target Texting While Driving

Texters could face a $70 fine

Anne Arundel County police have launched a program to target texting while driving.

Operation Eagle, a partnership with Annapolis and Crofton police departments and Maryland State Police, started Friday and will continue through October. Officers will give citations and warnings, as well as handouts about the dangers of distracted driving.

The Capital of Annapolis reports that those cited for sending or reading a text message face a $70 fine and one point on their driver's license.
