Animal Control Searching for Dog After Attack in Silver Spring

Animal control officers are searching for a dog after it attacked a woman in Silver Spring, leaving her with wounds on her arms and legs.

The attack happened about 7 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 3400 block of Gateshead Manor Way, Montgomery County Police said in a release. 

She suffered injuries that included puncture wounds to her arms and legs. Police said the wounds were not life-threatening.

The victim described the dog as large and brown. Police did not provide a further description. 

Officers searched the area after the attack but couldn't find the dog. They are asking for the public's help to find the dog and its owner.

Animal Services Officers are asking anyone who sees the dog not to approach it and to call the police non-emergency number at 301-279-8000. Anyone with information is asked to call the Animal Services Division at 240-773-5925.

Another person in the area of Hampton Point Drive, about 0.2 miles from Gateshead Manor Way, reported that a tan dog tried to attack her three days earlier, police said.
