Richmond Child Found Safe, Two Dead

Police say shooting suspect stole car with child in backseat

Richmond police say that a 2-year-old boy has been reunited with his mother after being abducted from the scene of a double shooting on Christmas Eve.

Police said 60-year-old Edward Lee Bowmer Jr. and 56-year-old Robin Sheryl Clapp were shot to death at around 5 p.m. Saturday in Bowmer's home on North 35th Street. After the shooting, investigators say that the suspect, 27-year-old Jamal Louis Clemons, fled in an SUV that was parked with its engine running and 2-year-old Kaiden Burnside in the backseat.

The disappearance of the boy triggered an Amber Alert. Burnside was found in the abandoned vehicle at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the Sir Moses Montefiero Cemetery, about one mile from the site of the shooting.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Clemons is wanted on charges of  abduction, three counts of robbery, three counts of robbery with a firearm and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony by a convicted felon.
