New Superintendent for Alexandria Schools

    The Alexandria City School Board has picked a new superintendent for the city schools.

    The board plans to formally announce the hiring of Dr. Alvin L. Crawley next week. Crawley has been interim superintendent since October.

    Before that he was the interim superintendent of Prince George's County public schools. He's been an educator for 33 years, including roles with the public schools in D.C. and Arlington.

    Crawley released a statement saying, quote: "I am unequivocally honored to have this opportunity."
